Made from solid genuine maple. This maple banding has a flecking pattern, and is essentially bird's-eye maple cut at approximately 45 degrees (sort of riftsawn) to the faces of the eyes. The flecking patterns run full length of the band as you can see from the photos below.
These are extra thick, running at just under 1/16" - about .055".
