These boxes are finely crafted from genuine hardwoods. Each box is unique.
The boxes are strong and made of solid hardwoods.
All boxes (including the inlays) are made personally by me in my workshop in Monroe, North Carolina.
I start by selecting unusually figured woods, and make several similar-sized boxes at a time.
This way I can save set-up time for the different jigs and tools, and I can finish the boxes all at once.
Otherwise the time involved would be prohibitive.
The last 5 boxes took me about 30 hours, so about an average of 6 hours
per box is not bad. I won't get rich making these things, but the small profits add up.

This is a curly maple box with an 8-point star inlay, and Walnut Burl and Satinwood top. Inlay bandings are 1/8" wide sapele/holly, and the 1/8"
stringing inlay is also sapele.
All woods are thoroughly dried prior to construction. Dovetail key splines of Sapele (Africa) are used to join the sides which
are constructed from the same piece of wood so the grain matches on all sides.
The figured top is constructed from a laminated wood (for stability - this will not warp!).
The top fits the bottom perfectly as the box was made as one unit, and the top cut from the bottom afterwards.
The finish is a very smooth and durable polyurethane. Hardware is solid brass.
The inside-bottom is lined with red ultra suede.

This is a sapele (Africa, mahogany-like) box with a hand-made fan inlay
(inlay is hot-sand shaded maple and ebony), ebony stringing, and zebrawood inlay bandings.
The figured top is constructed from a laminated wood (for stability).
The top is highly figured sapele wood.
8 ebony (Africa) dovetail keys provide structural strength as well as a nice look.
The sides are constructed from the same piece of solid sapele so the grain matches on all sides.
The top fits the bottom perfectly as the box was made as one unit, and the top cut from the
bottom afterwards. The finish is very smooth, and impervious to water or alcohol being done
with polyurethane. Hardware is solid brass. The inside-bottom is lined with red ultra suede.

Cremation Urn (example)
This is an example of a wood cremation urn. Outside dimensions are approximately 12 X 8 X 6" deep.
This one has an interior space of about 200 cubic inches.
I will make one to your specifications, out of any kind
of wood you like (if it is available). This particular one is made from maple with a
mahogany banding embedded with small holly crosses. The top is designed to be a tight, friction fit to
the bottom, making a tight seal, similar to a fit found in cigar humidors. Once together, it is a bit
difficult to get apart. The side are jointed with hand-cut dovetails.
The sides are constructed from the same piece of wood so the grain matches on all sides.
The top fits the bottom perfectly as the box was made as one unit, and the top cut from the bottom afterwards.
The finish is very smooth, being french-polished with a top coat of hand-rubbed polyeurethane.
Approximate cost on a box such as this would be about $600. Price would vary depending upon the species of wood and desired
inlays. Turn-around time would be approximately one month.
