Cut from choice big-leaf maple lumber, which has both a curly figure, and some spalting.
Just check out the natural figure of this wood! I think the ebony inlay material sets it off nicely...This finish on this - and all the ring boxes is super-smooth and consistant. You can feel the smoothness of the semi-gloss French-polish finish, which has no imperfections!

You can see the box top and bottom grain matches as the box was assembled as a solid unit. Then the top was cut from the bottom after assembly, thereby maintaining the grain pattern.
